Skyline Band

This past weekend was Solo & Ensemble weekend for the Ann Arbor Public Schools, and our Skyline Band made quite the impact.  We had a total of 39 events (including both solo and ensemble performances) from Skyline, with 29 of those placing into Division I, the best ranking available. We also had 10 performances placed in Division II.

We are very proud of all the hard work and accomplishments our students have made this weekend!

Join The Skyline Post

Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors: if you are looking for a way to get more involved, have fun, meet a great team of people, and maybe even learn to be a leader, come join The Skyline Post!  We are looking for writers, editors, photographers, graphic designers, ad salespeople, and website pros.  How to join:  take journalism A, B or C (in any order -- the letters just indicate trimester 1, 2 and 3).  Because it is a class during the school day, it is a great activity for people busy with jobs and sports and life after school.  You can take Journalism as often as it fits in your schedule. There is always something new to learn, and leadership is open to anyone of any age and ability -- bring your energy and ideas!  Stop by A408 or see Editor Ashley Han if you want to ask questions.

Black History Month

This week's Black History Month theme, MUSIC: African-American influences are so fundamental to American music that there would be no American music without them. People of African descent were among the earliest non-indigenous settlers of what would become the United States. The rich African musical heritage that they carried with them was part of the foundation of a new American musical culture that mixed African traditions with those of Europe and the Americas. The music of African Americans is one of the most poetic and inescapable examples of the importance of the African American experience to the cultural heritage of all Americans, regardless of race or origin.
